The Department of Zoology was established in 1968 with the introduction of the B.Sc. Zoology program. In 1995, the M.Sc. program was added, followed by M.Phil, and Ph.D., programs in 2000. The department offers comprehensive training in theoretical concepts, laboratory techniques and research methodologies across various sub-disciplines of Zoology. It is supported by a dedicated and diverse team of faculty members whose research interests span a wide range of areas.

AIM :

  • To produce disciplined, competent, and scientifically bright graduates in Zoology through quality education.
  • To promote women’s empowerment through science education.
  • To maintain an enduring commitment to improving the quality of life of rural women.
  • To educate and create awareness among rural women students about advanced technologies in the field of applied animal science.
  • To evolve into a centre of excellence through innovative practices.

OBJECTIVES :

  • To motivate students to efficiently utilize biological knowledge to solve problems related to human health and the environment.
  • To promote and develop research knowledge and interest among students through lab-to-land practices.
  • To provide advanced infrastructure for higher education and training activities, to develop research aptitude, and to facilitate industry–institute interaction.
