

Sri Sankara Kandaswami Kandar, born on May 23, 1880 in Nanjai Edayar, dedicated his life to uplifting his village and the Cauvery belt. Recognizing that education was the key to progress, he used his wealth from successful agricultural ventures to fund charitable projects, restore temples, and establish educational institutions. Despite personal tragedies, including the loss of his younger brother, his commitment to societal welfare never wavered.
He convened a landmark gathering in 1914 at Nanjai Edayar, bringing together community leaders, government officials, and prominent personalities to discuss ways to improve the lives of locals. His vision and generosity earned him the title Sambu Kulasekarar, and the lasting fruit of his efforts is the network of schools and charitable initiatives run by the Kandaswami Kandar Educational and Charitable Trust.
