Department Overview

The Department of Physics was established in 1962 in Kandaswami Kandar’s College. In the year 2000, M.Sc., Physics course was introduced. Later, in the year 2008, the department became a Research department by introducing M.Phil., (Physics) and Ph.D., (Physics) courses. The Physics department is a specialized department that focuses on the study of physics, which is the branch of science that deals with the fundamental principles governing the behavior of matter and energy in the physical world.

The curriculum in the Department of Physics (Periyar University syllabus) may cover a broad range of topics, including Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Optics, Nuclear Physics, and other specialized areas of Physics.
