Kandaswami Kandar’s College, situated on the bank of river Cauvery, was established in 1962 in a rural area Velur in Namakkal District. Our college is run by the Kandaswami Kandar’s Charitable Trust Board in respectful memory of Sri Sankara Kandaswami Kandar, Nanjai Edayar. He was a Philanthrophist and left all his properties to give the Light of Education to the poor and downtrodden people of this most backward area. Our College is affiliated to the Periyar University, Salem.

Our College, a co-educational institution, catering the basic needs in the education to the socially and economically down trodden people of this rural area. The institution is perched in its own campus of 52 acres of fertile greenery with all facilities. It imparts value based quality Education. In the recent past our college celebrated GOLDEN JUBLEE YEAR in 2013.

Our college, with fully qualified and dedicated faculty members, offers Nine Under Graduate Courses, Four Post Graduate Courses under regular (Aided Courses) stream. Besides these, it offers 10 Research Courses in M.Phil (Full-Time and Part Time) in Tamil, English, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Commerce and Micro-Biology disciplines and also 09 Ph.D. Research Courses (Full-Time and Part-Time) in Tamil, English, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Commerce and Physics disciplines.

Modern Trends have been introduced in the teaching and learning methods. The institution is facilitated with big library with vast collections of books, journals, and magazines for all subjects, computer center with internet connectivity etc., and Research Laboratories for all relevant subjects. There is an English Language Lab to improve the vocabulary and the communication skill of students. Wi-Fi connectivity also established inside the campus for an easy access of i-net facility for the benefit of the students. State Level and National Level seminars and workshop are conducted in regular interval to bring students community in touch with the recent developments in their relevant subjects. Every year the number of Medal winners at the University level is increasing.

Spacious play-ground, 400m track, courts for both outdoor and in-door games and well-equipped gym provide big boon to keep the students always fit. Our college is reaccredited as B Grade College (Scored 2.87 on Four Point scale) in second cycle by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)

Our College aims at inculcating a deep sense of discipline and moral rectitude in the students and to train them to become men of faith, integrity and character to serve the motherland and humanity.

APPLICATION FORMS and PROSPECTUS for the UG Degree Courses can be had in person on payment of Rs.48/- (Cost of application) (or by M.O.Rs.58/-) and PG Degree Courses can be had in person on payment of Rs.58/- (Cost of application) (or by M.O. Rs.68/-). Postal Orders, Demand Drafts and Cheques are not accepted.

Filled in Application

Filled-in-Applications are to be registered to undergo selection process at the special counter in the college office by paying Rs.10/- towards Registration Fee.

Important Notes

One application to one course method is followed. Candidates applying for more than one course shall use different application forms for each Course.

A passport size photograph of the candidate should be affixed on the space provided in the application form.

Last date for the receipt of filled-in-application forms for admission to UG Degree courses will be the tenth working day from the date of publication of plus two examination results.

Last date for the receipt of filled-in-application forms for admission to PG Degree courses will be the tenth working day from the date of publication of the corresponding qualifying UG Degree Examination results.

Applications not containing the Qualifying Marks of the applicant will not be considered for admission process. Applications incomplete or illegibly filled-in will not be considered for admission process. Students against whom criminal complaints have been registered in police stations or against whom criminal proceedings are pending in courts are not eligible for admission.

Admission Process:

Admissions will be made purely on the basis of Merit subject to the reservation rules of the Government of TamilNadu.

An intimation card will be sent to the provisionally selected candidates who will be called for an interview with the principal on the date notified therein.

Original certificates are to be produced at the time of interview/admission:

  • Transfer Certificate.
  • Conduct Certificate from the previous School / College
  • Statement of marks (Plus Two / Degree).
  • Community Certificate card (for SC, ST, BC & MBC candidates).
  • Students from other Universities should produce an Eligibility Certificate from the Registrar, Periyar University, Salem.
  • Two Xerox copies of Plus Two mark sheets & Community Certificate.
  • Evidence for physically handicapped, Ex-service men, N.C.C., N.S.S. and Sports.

Special reservation quota:

  • Six seats in undergraduate courses and 3 seats in PG Courses will be reserved for the children of Ex-Service men of TamilNadu Origin.
  • Two seats will be reserved in UG Degree courses in Tamil Medium for the benefit of Tamil students of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar.
  • Under Sports Quota, 3% of seats in UG and 2% of seats in PG will be reserved for students possessing meritorious certificates in Sports and Games.
  • 4) Those students who have studied plus two in school situated in the Namakkal Revenue District or those who have got distinction either in NCC or in NSS or in Sports and Games in inter School Competitions will be ranked for admission to UG courses by adding 5 marks to their percentage of marks computed for ranking

Out of the Quota of 30% reserved for BC, and of 20% reserved for MBC and of 31% meant for open competition and of 19% reserved for SC and ST (18% for SC/SCA and 1% of ST) 3 seats out of every 100 seats in SC/ST category 3 seats out of every 100 seats in BC, MBC Category and 3 seats out of every 100 seats in open competition Category will be given to the physically handicapped persons belonging to such categories.

Selected candidates should join the College on the date of their interview itself.

Candidates are directed to take sufficient number of copies of Transfer Certificate, Conduct Certificate Plus Two / Degree Mark Sheets and other certificates before joining the college. On no account they will be lent back to them after submission to the Office.

Hostel facilities:

Hostel Facilities for both Men and Women are available in saprate Campus. The College Hostel mess has vegetarian section only. Dividing system is followed. For hostal accommodation, application must be made direct to the WARDEN after securing admission to the College.

Co-curricular and extra curricular activities:

Our College offers a wide range of co-curricular activities such as Departmental Associations, Sports and Games, National Cadet Corps (Army wing & Air wing) and National Service Scheme. Students are expected to take an active part and keen interest in such activities. As per the new regulations, first year UG students Should join NCC or NSS or Sports activities and earn 75% of attendance in that activity to appear for the University Examination.

Note:

Those who join this Course should Follow College rules, Instructions of respective Head of the Department, Teaching Faculties and all Staff Members.

Students must attend the classes regularly and sincierly. All the students must hold Identy Card inside the Campus. Proper dress Code, Descent Behavior, code of contact must be observed during the whole course of study.

All admissions made are only provisional; they will be confirmed only after referring to the University and getting their approval.

The College has the right to cancel the admissions if any of the certificates submitted is found to be false or if the qualification of the candidate is not approved by the University.

Admission is subject to verification of marks certificate by Director of Government Examination and if the mark certificate is found to be bogus, admission is liable for cancellation besides criminal action being taken.

 

Payment

Tuition fee is payable at the commencement of each term (two terms a year). No credit will be given for attendance from the date of default in payment of fees. Fees once paid will not be refunded on any account.

Collection of fees due to the College will not be suspended on the plea that an award or scholarship is expected from the Government. Belated payment of any fees will necessarily incur fine and result in the removal of his / her name from the College rolls.

Tuition fee concessions (for pg degree corses only):

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be exempted from the payment of the tuition fee provided they submit a Community Certificate issued by the Revenue Department at the time of admission.

Scholarship :

Govt. Scholarship facility is available to eligible students of B.C, M.B.C. & SC / ST Classes of both UG & PG courses.

Dresses :

Dresses for special occasions are as follows:

Men students : White shirts and White Pants.

Women students : Green saree and green blouse.

Insurance Coverage:

Insurance Coverage facilities from accidents on prescribed premium are available for all students (Optional only).
